Since we talked a bit about the Caribana festival in Toronto yesterday, it’s only fitting to bring you Rihanna’s turn up in Barbados for “Crop Over Fest.” Originally a celebration signaling the end of the yearly sugar cane harvest, it has since evolved into Barbados’ biggest national festival similar to Carnival in Brazil and Trinidad. The event is for two months, beginning in June and culminating in a huge celebration on the first Monday of August.
