Ravens Ray Rice Indicted On Aggravated Assault

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice Ravens has been indicted on aggravated assault charges stemming from an altercation that took place in Atlantic City between Rice and his fianceé, Janay Palmer.

Initially Rice was charged with simple assault, but prosecutors upgraded the charges. Video footage was released of Rice dragging Janay from a casino elevator after he allegedly knocked her out after she either struck or hit him on February 15th at Revel.

A grand jury has indicted Rice with aggravated assault, saying he “knowingly caused significant bodily injury” to Palmer under circumstances “manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

Charges against Palmer were dropped. If convicted, Rice faces three to five years in jail.
