Hailey Kilgore stars as Laverne “Jukebox” Thomas on the Hit STARZ drama “Raising Kanan.” The second in a series of spinoffs from the original “Power” series. In season one, Jukebox, the quick-witted, fiercely independent cousin to Kanan, endured first love heartbreak plus betrayal at the hands of her father Marvin (London Brown.)
In season two, Jukebox is in a completely different headspace. Still mourning the tragic loss of her first love Nicole, she is mourning and searching for answers. This time she will turn to someone from a past she barely knows to fill the holes in her heart.
Jill Munroe talked with Kilgore during the AAFCA Roundtable series featuring the cast. Kilgore shared where Jukebox stands at the top of the season inside this complicated family dynamic.
I think the cool thing about Jukebox when it comes to the family, she can navigate every single person in every single scenario at any given time. She knows what’s going on. She knows the gossip. She knows the what’s what. She’s the vault of the family. It was really easy being able to navigate that side of things as opposed to all of the outside forces; the love she had never experienced before, the culture shock she had never experienced before. So this season, I’m excited for you guys to see how she starts to navigate the world after all the lost that she’s been through because it’s a lot different than before.
