Plaxico Burress’ license suspended for failing to pay $125K judgement

Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress has had his license suspended by the Florida DMV. Not for speeding, running a red light or any of that sort of stuff. Burress was on the wrong end of a 2008 civil suit and hasn’t paid up. Check the details courtesy of TMZ:

a woman named Alise Smith sued Plaxico, claiming he caused a car crash that injured her.  She won, and he was ordered to pay $125,000 in damages.

According to Alise, Plax never paid (he tried appealing) … so her lawyer, James Dunn, fired off a letter to the FL DMV requesting that his license be suspended — yeah they can do that — and the DMV made it happen. To get it back Plax must pay the judgment OR challenge the DMV’s actions.

People are serious about their coin. When it comes to legal matters, you may have a team but make sure you stay on top of them. The person who loses in stuff like this is YOU. Also, always make sure you keep car insurance, Plaxico had none at the time of the accident. Ouch.
