Patriots Wes Welker’s wife Anna Burns apologizes for Facebook comments about Ray Lewis

Anna Burns, the wife of Patriots receiver Wes Welker took to Facebook on Sunday to express her unhappiness at the adoration being showered on Baltimore Ravens, Ray Lewis. Of course her beef comes after the Pats lost to the Ravens in the AFC Championship game.

“Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids, 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay! What a hall of fame player! A true role model!”

What comes after a statement/Tweet/Post of this nature is made? An apology of course.

“I’m deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook, including comments about Ray Lewis. I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday’s game.  It is such an accomplishment for any NFL team to even make it to the playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the achievement of these amazing teams.”

Just once, I’d like someone to stand up to their original thoughts and say, “I meant every word of it.” As far as Ray Lewis, the reality is, the Atlanta incident is part of his story/testimony. It will always be mentioned. Does that mean it should disqualify him as one of the best to ever do it? No, he was acquitted but, it won’t stop some from feeling how they do.
