NFL free agent Kerry Rhodes says he’s not gay but would support gay teammate

The topic of gay men and the NFL has been in the headlines for the last few months. Opinions on both sides of the issue have been highlighted and there’s even been speculation that a player could possibly step out and announce himself as the first openly gay player in the league.

I’ve stated before that I don’t believe it will be as big an issue in the locker room as some believe simply because I believe some players know and are more concerned with the on field performance. Perhaps will see my theory put to the test soon. In the meantime, someone is working extremely hard to convince the world that one of those closeted players is NFL free agent Kerry Rhodes. The former Arizona Cardinal addressed speculation after photos of he and a man named “Hollywood” were sent in to MediaTakeOut implying that the two were a couple. Rhodes has said that Hollywood is his former assistant and that he’s not gay.

“I am not gay,” Rhodes flatly told TMZ on Friday. “The shots were taken during a past vacation in a casual environment with my entire business team.”

“I know a lot of people are recently talking about athletes struggling to come out to their fans right now, and I support them, as well as with those individuals comfort,” said Rhodes.

Love who you want, be with who you want. But let it happen at their own pace.
