Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt is wanted for questioning by New Jersey police in connection with the stabbing of his brother late Saturday night. Britt allegedly dropped his brother off at hospital Sunday morning but wouldn’t speak with police about the stabbing.
According to The Tennessean, police were called to a party in Jersey City at 3:28 a.m. because of a reported stabbing that occurred during a fight. When police arrived, they found nothing wrong. They were later informed that Britt brought his brother into the hospital with a stab wound in his back near his left arm-it wasn’t life threatening. Police also say a gun shot rang out from the same place where the stabbing took place. The shot reportedly was fired after Britt went back to the house to pick up his girlfriend.
“They were all involved in an altercation. So they all knew each other and what was going on,’’ Jersey City Police Capt. Edgar Martinez told The Tennessean. “That’s why we want to talk to him. He was involved in the incident, both incidents. He was there during that time period. So we are looking to speak to him.”
Britt has been in trouble with law enforcement frequently including a DUI arrest at an army post and a high speed police chase. Yikes.
**UPDATE**
A representative for Britt has said that the wideout will corporate with police but claims that the details being released are inaccurate. That the police misidentified Britt’s friend as his brother as well as Britt’s whereabouts at the time of the incident.
“Kenny was leaving a dinner cooked by his friends’ parents when he found his friend, who had left earlier, injured outside,” the statement said.
“Kenny immediately brought his friend to the hospital and was there with the injured friend’s family for several hours, but was not otherwise involved in the incident.
“It was not a house party, Kenny’s brother was not injured (and wasn’t even there) and Kenny has made himself available to cooperate with the authorities investigation of this matter.”
