On the same weekend that one “Basketball Wife” is trying to pick up the pieces of her athletic union gone wrong, the non-reality TV NBA wives are holding their annual conference in Atlanta at the W hotel in Buckhead. “Behind the Bench“ is the organization formed by the wives and significant others of NBA athletes with the goal to use it’s platform to raise awareness to issues that affect families.
Co-Chaired by Dee Dee Rahim, wife of former NBA player and current Sacramento Kings Assistant General Manager, Shareef Abdur Rahim and Kristina Ratliff, wife of former NBA player Theo Ratlif. The 2012 conference theme was, “Empowering a better you.” Guest speakers included; life strategist, Marshawn Evans, “Football Wives” cast member, Chanita Foster, Parenting lifestyle consultant Audrey Griffin and others. There was also a luncheon honoring “Women in Philanthropy.” Those honored included; Majorie Harvey, Rev. Bernice King, Tracy Wilson Mourning and Monica Kaufman Pearson.
Some of the wives and Significants in attendance include Savannah Brinson, Jeanine Howard, Ashley Alston, Clarenda McGrady and Yolanda Smith. Check out photos from the weekend.
