Michael Jordan wants paternity suit dismissed

Michael Jordan was recently hit with a paternity suit by Pamela Smith. Smith claims she and Jordan met in Chicago in the late 80’s and the relationship resulted in a 16 year old son named Taj. Those close to Smith maintain she filed the suit because Taj wants to be acknowledged by Jordan as his son.

MJ is now asking a Georgia court to dismiss the lawsuit claiming it has no merit.

Jordan’s lawyer says in the document filed Monday in Fulton County Superior Court that he is not the father of 48-year-old Pamela Y. Smith’s son. Jordan has also filed a counterclaim against Smith for false claims made against him.

The 50-year-old owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats says the paternity of the teen has already been “conclusively established” in divorce filings between Smith and her ex-husband.

Jordan’s response to Smith’s Feb. 6 lawsuit says her suit is a “shameless, bad faith attempt to abuse the legal system.” In Smith’s lawsuit, she requests that Jordan take a paternity test, pay child support and share medical, dental and hospital costs that are not covered by insurance..

I’m not a legal expert. But perhaps Ms. Smith claimed Taj’s father as her ex husband because his true parentage was never supposed to be uncovered. All the questions could be answered with a paternity test and Ms. Smith and her son Taj are willing to have those test done, at Jordan’s expense. Smith doesn’t have an attorney but the first court date is March 12th.
