Matt Barnes & Gloria Govan Host 3rd Annual Athletes Vs. Cancer Celebrity Golf Tournament and Gala [Photos]

Friday evening in Rancho Palos Verdes, Laker forward Matt Barnes and his fiancee and “Basketball Wives: LA” cast member Laura Govan held the 3rd Annual Athletes vs. Cancer Celebrity Golf Tournament and Gala. The event was held at The Terranea Resort.

Matt founded Athletes vs. Cancer after his mother, Ann was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on November 2nd 2007.  Ann passed away 26 days later on November 27th. His focus with the foundation is preventative screenings. Matt and Gloria have raised $225,000 for local screening programs.

Earlier in the day the golf tournament took place. Matt’s foursome included his Laker teammates, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. Gloria’s consisted of her Basketball Wives LA castmates, Jackie Christie, Imani Showalter, Draya Michelle and Gloria’s sister, Laura.

The Gala included a silent auction, casino games (I discovered I’m decent at Blackjack and suck at craps) performances by throwback singer Job B. and DJ Quik. Some of the guests in attendance include, Matt’s Laker teammate Luke Walton, Gloria’s Basketball Wives cast mates, retired MLB players Scott Ericson and Royce Clayton and retired NFL linebacker, Willie McGinest.
