As more and more athletes are facing police investigations and getting arrested, it’s not often we hear of charges being dropped. But luckily for New England Patriots’ RB, LeGarrette Blount, prosecutors did just that.
Pittsburgh prosecutors dropped a marijuana charge against Blount, after he fulfilled the terms of his plea deal. Blount completed the required 50 hours of community service before a court imposed February 4th deadline.
Back in August, Blount and former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Le’Veon Bell were arrested after police found less than an ounce of marijuana in Bell’s car during a traffic stop. Bell was arrested for DUI, but like Blount, struck a plea deal with prosecutors that stated the charge would be dropped if he completed 15 months probation without incident.
With the charges being dropped, Blount won’t have to appear in a Pennsylvania court next week, but could still face a punishment issued by the NFL for the arrest.
At least Blount’s wiped the slate clean, and can fully concentrate on Sunday’s Super Bowl as the Patriots face the Seattle Seahawks.
