Kobe Bryant is tired of being the subject matter of others books. I guess this latest Phil Jackson book, “Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success,” has inspired him to pen his own book. Over the weekend, Kobe announced that he had a “big” announcement coming. Many thought it was retirement. It wasn’t, Kobe and his foundation, “The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation” is teaming up with the Sports Spectacular to further his fight against homelessness with an August 15th event entitled “Kobe up Close” to be held at the Nokia Theatre.
“I’d like to officially announce that I’m partnering with the Sports Spectacular to help eradicate homelessness,” said Bryant in a pre-recorded video, aired at the Sports Spectacular 2013 gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.
“You can learn about my past, present and future,” said Bryant of the event, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. “It’s for an incredible cause.”
But back to this book. I’d be really interested to hear Kobe in his own words on several topics; growing up the son of an NBA player, those early Lakers years, his relationship with Vanessa, the Colorado incident, etc. I’d buy it.
