Knicks Raymond Felton Won’t Face Jail Time In Gun Possession Case

New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton won’t serve any jail time stemming from the felony gun possession charges he faced. Felton was charged after his estranged wife bought a gun he owned to cops in February saying she felt unsafe, a week after filing for divorce.

Prosecutors say New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton is expected to plead guilty in a felony gun possession case in exchange for being sentenced to community service and a $5,000 fine.

Felton was in a Manhattan court Monday, when prosecutors outlined the agreement. He’s expected to enter the plea June 30.

“We want to thank the DA’s office for focusing on the facts and only the facts. It’s very clear that there was no proof, that there was never any proof that he ever used, threatened or pointed this gun at anyone,” Felton’s attorney, Jim Walden, said. “He never did that. It was a bold-faced lie. We’re grateful that the DA’s office saw through that and is going to allow him to continue his basketball career without interruption.”

Felton and his estranged wife Ariane haven’t finalized their divorce.
