Kerry Washington On Why She Doesn’t Respond to Nnamdi Asomugha Divorce Rumors

Actress Kerry Washington married her husband, former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in a secret ceremony back in 2013, shocking everyone as nobody knew the couple was dating. Kerry believes in keeping her personal life private.

While at SXSW in Austin, TX, Washington discussed her preference for privacy and why you’ll never hear her address those divorce rumors that pop up every couple of months.

“If I don’t talk about my personal life, it means I don’t talk about my personal life,” she said. “That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what’s going on in my marriage, I don’t refute them, because I don’t talk about my personal life.”

Kerry also explained why you shouldn’t expect to see photos of her daughter, Isabella Amarachi, on social media any time soon.

“I have these itchy fingers where I want to post a photo of my daughter, so instead I send it to my shrink or my mother,” she revealed. “I’m like, ‘Look at this picture! Look how cute!’ Get it out of my phone into the world, but not on social.”

“I want her to be able to make those decisions in her time,” she explained. “She already has a lot to navigate in life as the daughter of an actor and a former football player. She should be able to enter this world when it feels right for her, and not [have me] make that decision for her. Who knows what the next generation of Snapchat will be when she’s allowed to have a phone.”

I think it’s refreshing in an era where everyone wants to overshare, that Kerry and Nnamdi like to keep a few things to themselves.
