Kendrick Lamar has a whole verse dedicated to Orlando Magic’s Arron Afflalo [audio]

Rapper Kendrick Lamar is the latest to put the West Coast on his back and represent for his city of Compton. Lamar’s first album is dropping October 22nd entitled “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” on a bonus track, “Black boy fly,” he dedicates a verse to fellow Compton native and current Orlando Magic guard, Arron Afflalo. The song is about things, people, ideas that tweaked and tinge of jealousy in him but ultimately inspired.

I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo
He was the one to follow
He was the only leader for seeing brighter tomorrows
He would live in the gym
We was living in sorrow
Total envy of him
He made a dream become a reality
Actually making it possible to swim
He way out of Compton with further more to accomplish
Graduate with honors, a sponsor of basketball scholars
It’s 2004 and I’m watching him score 30
Remember vividly how them victory points had hurt me
Cause every basket was a reaction or a reminder
That we was just moving backwards

That’s hot, he’s not just praising him for his on court performance but also for the fact that he was a good student and served as an inspiration. Not to mention, on the low, Afflalo used to give Kobe fits when he was with the Nuggets. He’s in the equivalent of an NBA wasteland now in Orlando but, at least someone can remind the masses that he’s worth watching.
