The New York Knicks are tired of JR Smith’s hijinks. Per ESPN, the Knicks are testing the waters to move Smith. The guard, whose was votes “Sixth Man of the Year” last season, can’t be dealt to a new team until after January 15th.
Smith was fined $50,000 by the league for “recurring instances of unsportsmanlike conduct”stemming from two incidents where he untied players shoes while at the free throw line. The fine seems excessive but the league is clearly trying to send a message.
Smith tweeted out a message Wednesday afternoon apologizing to his team, the league and it’s fans.
Huge apologies to my team, to the league an most of all you the fans! #JRSmithSigningOff

Smith is shooting a career low 34.8% this season. Coming off knee surgery last summer, he signed a three-year-$18 million contract with the Knicks.
