In March of this year, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall introduces us to six-year-old Miyah who was going through chemo treatments for cancer. Damiyah Telemaque-Nelson’s wish was to get one of Nicki Minaj’s wigs, and John wanted to help make her wish come true.
John became close with Miyah and her family. Monday, following what was probably Wall’s best game of his career in a double-overtime win over the Boston Celtics, the point guard broke down in tears while being interviewed postgame.
Miyah passed away before the Wizards game on Monday, and Wall responded to the heartbreaking news by playing brilliantly in her honor.
If you were blessed to meet and get to know Miyah you know how special of a little girl she was. I’m saddened by the news but I know that she’s in a better place. Keep her family in your prayers. I’ll definitely miss my buddy. Rest In Peace Miyah.
I can’t believe this little angel is gone. When I met her she was recovering. Sending love to her mother and family and John. This is heartbreaking. She was so full of life. #RIPMiyah
