The new MGM film “RESPECT,” starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson and Marlon Wayans. The film follows the rise of an icon, Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul. The story follows Aretha on a quest for stardom and independence from the controlling men in her life.
In speaking with Hudson, she shared what it was like working as a first-time Executive Producer, what she learned about herself through Franklin’s story, and what she wants the audience to take away from the film.
Wayans discussed portraying a charming villain in Franklin’s first husband Ted White, why he gives it up to Black women, and his upcoming comedy special.
