Javarais Crittenton Sentenced To 23 Years For 2011 Murder

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton will immediately begin serving a 23-year sentence for murder after accepting a plea deal in Atlanta.

Crittenton was accused of murdering Julian Jones, 22-year-old mother of four, 2011. His target was a man he believed had robbed him.

Wednesday, Crittenton plead guilty to murdering Jones in a plea deal. Additionally, Crittenton apologized to Jones’ family in court and said that he wishes he could trade places with the woman. He also referred to her murder as an accident.

Crittenton was selected in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Lakers and spent more than a season in Los Angeles before being dealt to the Grizzlies as part of a trade for Pau Gasol. He is best known for the 2010 “guns in the locker room” incident with Gilbert Arenas while they both played for the Washington Wizards.
