Jalen Rose doesn’t like the Olympic gymnastic team moniker of “Fab 5”

Former NBA player and current analyst Jalen Rose first came int national prominance during the 90’s while attending Michigan University as part of the Fab Five. Rose has since gone on to trademark the name. Rose has an issue with the “lazy journalist” who have since gone on to dub the five members of this year’s Olympic Team USA gymnastic squad the “Fab five.”

“To use the nickname just points and screams of lazy journalism by the national media, that’s really what it is,” Rose told Jamie Samuelsen of 97.1 FM in Detroit. “It’s no fault at all of the young gymnasts. But I really wish they would have come up with an even more creative tag for them and their gold medal pursuit.”

Interesting, I wonder if Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr or George Harrison had beef with them in the 90’s. After all they were the “fab four” and most certainly the name derived from there. I guess Jalen sided with Shaq – well in that instance, I did too – when Shaq was saying Dwight needed his own moniker.

Eh, Chris Webber is my favorite member of the “original fab 5” anyway.
