Gloria James receives community service for altercation with Fontainebleau valet

Remember last spring when Gloria James, LeBron James’ mother and a valet at the Fontainebleau hotel had a scuffle in the wee hours of the morning that resulted in Gloria being arrested? The case was settled today and Gloria has managed to avoid jail time. Who else but TMZ has the details:

Under the terms of the deal, the court has agreed to dismiss the public intoxication charge against Gloria … if she completes 20 hours of community service, stays away from Sorel and donates $1,000 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. FYI — Sorel is Haitian and personally agreed to the deal.

At the time of the incident, Sorel indicated that he was considering filing a civil suit. I’m sure in addition to the donation Ms. James is making to the Clinton Bush Hait fund, there’s also some type of “good will” gesture in the form of compensation going to the Rockfeller Sorel i.e. his personal bank account. Perhaps with some sort of agreement that there be no further conversation surrounding the incident. But that would just be making an assumption.
