What would you do if you began dating someone and within the first two months of dating, they discover that their ex is pregnant – assuming you’re a woman – or that they are pregnant by the ex? Chances are you’d likely put the relationship on pause, or end it all together, right?
That was the prospect facing supermodel Gisele Bundchen in 2006 when she started dating New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Tom was coming off of a relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan, when she discovered she was pregnant and made the decision to keep the baby even though she and Tom were no longer together.
Gisele has never really discussed her feelings during that time, but has opened up about them in a recent interview.
Gisele and Tom eventually got married and had kids of their own, but the question will always linger; would she have given a regular guy a chance to work through a pregnant ex so early into their relationship?
Gisele also discussed how the couple supports each other through difficult times, including last summer’s Deflategate drama saying,
“I think we have been through a few tough times together. I think that’s when you know who are your friends and who loves you.”
“I think no matter how challenging it was we’ve always been supportive of one another and I think that’s the most important thing you can have in life. You know, a support system and love.”
I talk about Tom and Giselle’s baby mama drama in chapter 12 of my book, PostGame Pass: access into “the life.” It’s available on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.
