Gabrielle Union- Wade is currently on a promo tour for her new film with Chris Rock, “Top 5.” Union recently stopped by HuffPost’s Live where the topic of the grand jury decision not to indict the officer responsible for the death of Eric Garner, the 43-year-old man who died while in police custody last summer after the “choke hold” was administered.
Union discussed her feelings of frustration at the lack of compassion for black and brown lives:
“You have to have a complete lack of humanity to not at least acknowledge that there’s a whole chunk of our country and the world that experiences life and all that it has to offer differently. Have compassion for the pain. Have compassion for that difference. Have compassion that a man has lost his life after pleading repeatedly — 11 times — ‘I cannot breathe.”
