Jada Pinkett-Smith and Gabrielle Union recently put an end to a 17-year-old feud. The subject came up while Jada was promoting her new Facebook talk show, Red Table Talk that debuts May 7th.
Jada revealed that one of her upcoming guests on the show was Gabby and that it was a special episode because the two reconciled. Both claim they can’t remember the cause of their beef.
I have a really touching episode with Gabrielle Union. We haven’t been on the best of terms for 17 years, and we have a reconciliation.
When the producers said we want to do a girlfriends show…her name just kept coming up…it just couldn’t be anything else.
When Jada was asked if she and Gab were good, she responded, “Oh, definitely. We don’t even know how it started!”
Union discussed the topic while appearing on “The Today Show” promoting her new film, “Breaking In”
“Jada nor I ever used the word feud, so it just became more of a media creation. Kind of like back in the day, neither one of us actually knows what originally took place back then.”
Gabby also partially blames people that surrounded the two actresses, saying they fed the beef.
“The people we had around us were like, ‘Well, you know how she feels about you,’ and they were like, ‘Well, you know how she feels about you,’” Union recalled. “And then it was like ‘girl bye’ for 17 years. Even though we’re both very outspoken women, both activists, our husbands are friends, I worked with her husband, we both had too much pride and too much insecurities to just say, ‘Hey, did that ever actually happen or was that just a creation of someone who didn’t want to see two women rise together?’
So naturally, I did the math… 17 years ago would be around the time that Gabby and Jada’s husband, Will Smith were filming “Bad Boys 2.”
