Ex-NFL player Anthony Smith was charged with murder along with two other men in a Lancaster, Ca. court on Friday.
Smith, 43, Charles Honest, (41) of Los Angeles and Dewann White (32) of Bloomington, Calif. are accused of the Oct. 7, 2008 death of 31-year-old Maurilio Ponce.
According to authorties, Ponce was beaten and shot several times and his body was dumped in a poppy field about 11 miles west of Lancaster, which is about 70 miles north of LA.
Smith’s bail was set at $1 million, he’s set to be arraigned on March 17th. Anthony Smith played for the Raiders from 1991 to 1997. He was selected out of the Univ. of Arizona as the 11th overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft.
