Former NBA star Kenny Anderson opens up sexual abuse in his past

Former NBA star, Kenny Anderson has recently opened up about the sexual abuse he suffered as a child during an off-broadway play called ‘the Penis Monologues’

Anderson, who averaged 12.6 PPG and 6.1 APG during his 14-year career talked about the childhood trauma which led to deep anger inside him even though he had the life on an NBA player:

“That’s why I got my heart filled with anger somewhat,” the former Nets star and New York City high school legend said. “You have everything in the world, but you’re still miserable. That’s who I was.”

Anderson detailed two incidents he endured in his younger years, once at the hands of a guy from his neighborhood when he was just eight-years-old and another time by a man who was a basketball coach. Anderson declined to go into specifics but, says it was only the two isolated incidents. It was something that clearly caused him a lot of trauma and it’s only recently that he’s opened up about it. Anderson is working on an autobiography, “Instructions not included,” where he’ll go more in detail about how it ultimately affected him.

“It’s therapeutic for me,” the 14-year NBA veteran and Georgia Tech player said. “When you’re a kid you don’t know what’s going on, somebody touching you or fondling you, doing other stuff. … I didn’t want to let anybody know.”

Anderson had a volatile 14-year NBA career spent with nine different teams. He’s fathered eight children with five women and had problems with alcohol abuse, including a recent arrest for DUI.
