Detroit Tigers left fielder Delmon Young was arrested on a hate crime charge in New York Friday morning, after he allegedly attacked a group of men and yelled anti-Semitic remarks.
A group of tourists from Chicago was approached by a panhandler wearing a yarmulke.
As the group walked up to the hotel doors, Young started telling anti-Semitic epithets.
He then got into a scuffle with one of the tourists, who suffered scratches to his elbows.
Clearly there’s something else missing in this story. How does it go from a group of tourist being approached by a pan handler to Young cursing and fighting the tourist. Reports have also indicated that Young was intoxicated.
The Tigers are in New York to face off against the Yankees for a 3-game series. The first game is tonight. No word if Young will be in uniform.
