Dave Chappelle Brings Back Your Favs and Weighs In on Donald Trump Victory

Saturday night saw the return of Dave Chappelle to television. Chappelle took over the guest hosting reigns on Saturday Night Live, and reminded us why his sketch comedy series, Chappelle’s Show is one of the most greatest, EVER.

Not only did Chappelle bring back some of your favorite characters including; Tyrone Biggums, Silky Johnson, Chuck Taylor and Lil Jon — he also took on the role of Negan in his parody of TV’s top-rated drama, The Walking Dead.

Chappelle’s opening monologue covered a wide range of topics in ways that only he could voice, discussing the election, Donald Trump‘s victory didn’t come as a surprise to him – which was later included in a sketch that featured Chris Rock. Chappelle said he was going to take a knee like 49’ers QB Colin Kaepernick and let the white people fight this one out amongst themselves.

“it seemed like Hillary was doing well in the polls, but I know the whites. I haven’t seen whites this mad since the O.J. verdict,” he continued. “I’m not saying I’m enjoying it. I’m just saying I’ve never seen it before. I watched a white riot in Portland, Oregon on television the other night. The news said they did a million dollars’ worth of damage. Every black person was watching that like, ‘amateurs.'”

He also covered mass shootings, including the Pulse nightclub shooting. He reminded the audience that, although initial reports claimed ISIS was involved in the shooting, what really happened was that the shooter “pledged allegiance to ISIS before he did what he did. That’s not the same as being in ISIS. That’s like, if I was going to have sex with a girl, and right before I did it, I screamed out ‘Wu-Tang!’ That don’t mean I’m in the Wu-Tang Clan! I’m just shouting Wu-Tang out.”

Also on the list in the almost 11-miniute-monologue; Harambe, the complexities of being rich and black, the Black Lives Matter movement, and his most recent visit to the White House. He said it was an event sponsored by BET that was almost exclusively black expect for Bradley Cooper.

“I saw how happy everybody was, these people who had been historically disenfranchised, and it made me hopeful, it made me feel proud to be an American, and it made me very happy about the prospects of our country,”

He ended it by wishing well president-elect Trump and good four years, with the understanding that he better hold down the “historically disenfranchised” American.

“I’m wishing Donald Trump luck, and I’m going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one too.”

In keeping with the Chappelle show feeling, classic hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest performed.
