Former NFL star Darren Sharper has been in jail since January 2014 after being charged with sexual assault. Monday morning, Sharper entered into a global plea deal that will have him locked away for the next nine years.
Sharper appeared in court via video conferencing in Arizona for his sentence. The former safety had cases pending in four states for drugging and assaulting women. He’s expected to receive eight years for the charges in Nevada, and something similar for the LA charges.
**UPDATE**
Sharper was sentenced to 10 years, but he’s being credited time served for the year that he’s been locked up in LA County jail. Sharper will serve his time in a federal facility, and will be required to register as a sex offender upon release.
Happy to have him off the streets, and hope the victims receive some sense of peace in the outcome.
