The NBA lockout is in day 112 with no signs of ending soon. A familiar topic that comes up after the sadness of not seeing your favorite jock on the hardwood, what about their wives, girlfriends and significant others. Are they being affected by the lockout?
For clippers player, Ryan Gomes and wife Danielle, scaling back has definitely been apart of the process. For each game canceled due to the lockout, Ryan will lose approximately $48,780. But because the NBPA was preparing players for the last 2 years that missing a season was a real possibility, the Gomes were prepared with a course of action. Danielle- who met Ryan while they both were in high school- gave Adena Andrews details:
The healthcare choices many Americans are faced with daily also impact spending decisions
The Gomes family received all physicals and medical prescriptions before their NBA healthcare plan ceased and decided to pay for their health expenses out of pocket. Unfortunately, their three-year old daughter, Ryelle, woke up with pink eye one day last month and her doctor’s visit hit the family’s wallet. Danielle also recently learned that she is with child.
Different tax brackets but making the same decisions most families are faced with. Everyone wants fair compensation for the job they perform, especially when compared to what the owners are bringing in based off your specialized skill set.
Adena also interviewed Sebastian Telfair’s wife Samantha, you can read up on her new approach HERE
