On Friday, several NBA players used social media to take a stand for Trayvon Martin. Not only did the entire Miami Heat take a photo in their official “Heat team” hoodies, they did so with the full support of the Miami Heat organization.
I know this generation’s NBA stars take a lot of heat but the fact that LeBron James and Dwyane Wade got together with their entire orgnazation to take a stand speaks volumes. The photo was taken in the Heat’s hotel in Detroit where they will face off against the Pistons on Friday night. The Heat will also have messages in honor of Trayvon on their sneakers for the game.
James and Wade said that Gabrielle Union is the one who made them aware of the situation.
Carmelo Anthony, Amare’s Stoudemire and Kevin Durant all posted photos in their hoodies to their Twitter and Instagram accounts as well. The NBPA has released a statement also.
This is using the medium for something powerful.
