Brandon Jennings was sort of the forgotten man this summer in NBA free agency. Jennings and the Bucks had clearly fallen out of love with one another. Jennings was looking for a fresh start and multi-year deal but it seemed as if most teams assumed that the Bucks would match, looking to get something in return from their former draft pick.
The Detroit Pistons stepped up to the table. The two teams reached an agreement in principle for Brandon Jennings to head to Detroit in a sign-and-trade deal.
Jennings deal will be for 3-years-$24 million. Detroit will send guard Brandon Knight- who popped up on my radar after being the recipient of a Clippers’ big man, DeAndre Jordan dunk, forward Khris Middleton and center Slava Kravtsov to the Bucks.
The Pistons also signed former Hawks forward Josh Smith to a four-year, $54 million contract, and former Clippers and Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups has a two-year deal with the Pistons. I’m sure Billups will turn into a front office role at some point.
