Blazers Dorell Wright and Wife Host Scrapes and Gravel pop Up Shop at All-Star

Athletes and celebrity guests celebrated the one year anniversary of the launch of the urban, chic menswear line, Scrapes and Gravel, headed by NBA star Dorell Wright, his wife Mia and Creative Director Jean Nickel. The couple hosted a pop up shop for the brand as part of the NBA All-Star festivities in New York City.

The pop up shop featured a celebrity guest list including Bryshere Gray and Jussie Smollett of Fox’s smash hit ‘Empire’, former NBA superstar Baron Davis, Cookie Johnson, Former NBA star and current Pistons Assistant coach Quentin Richardson, and former Super Bowl Champion with the New York Giants Tyler Sash. The event also hosted a private lifestyle lounge where guests sipped champagne and enjoyed men’s grooming treatments, manicures, massage therapy and tattoos by celebrity artist Bangbang.

When asked about the creation and development of the menswear line, Mia said:

“It’s been a great learning experience. We’ve learned about design and the importance of quality of material. It was like walking into a new world and being a kindergartener and learning everything from scratch, but it still has been very exciting. We’ve been fortunate to have really good buzz and success for the first year, so we are looking forward to keeping it going.”

Baron Davis, who purchased pieces of the menswear line, is also an avid support of the brand:

“I like Scrapes and Gravel for the design aesthetic, and because they are forward thinking in fashion. Their vibe just really fits with this millennial culture and where fashion is headed in the next couple of years.”

Scrapes and Gravel has received major buzz in the fashion industry, which Creative Director Jean Nickel attributes to the authenticity of the brand:

“A lot of our inspiration just came from being downtown and capturing the lifestyle of the people that live there. We wanted to re-define our LA culture through fashion, so it can represent how we see downtown LA through our eyes. Watts, South Central LA is just a very raw place, and it gave us inspiration to express ourselves.”

It was a day of fashion, luxury spa treatments and delicious drinks! Will you be fly this winter in Scrapes and Gravel gear?
If so, purchase and see more here.
