Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson was originally scheduled to serve his 20-day jail sentence in the middle of October, coinciding with the Bengals bye week.
But plans seemed to have changed as Benson checked into a Texas jail Tuesday night to settle two misdemeanor assault cases.
The Bengals first regular season game is September 10th. Th assumption is that Benson will be released by the 6th in time to participate. The Bengals play the Colts in their final preseason game Thursday night, but it had already been determined that Benson wouldn’t play in that game.
