Bengals’ Devon Still pre-surgery pep talk to his 4-year-old daughter Leah [video]

Earlier this month, we heard the story of Bengals defensive lineman Devon Still and his four-year-old daughter, Leah, who’s suffering from a pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma . Still was a member of the Bengals practice squad who was kept by the team so that he could afford the health insurance needed for the treatments for his daughter’s illness.

The team moved Still to the active roster and his jersey was made available for sale with all proceeds going to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital & Pediatric Cancer Care for Leah’s care. The jersey set a single-day record with over 1,000 units sold on Wednesday, Sept. 10. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton bought 100 of those jerseys, even though he and Devon had never met.

On Thursday, Leah underwent surgery to remove the tumor from her abdomen, Still posted a video of his “pre-surgery pep talk” with the caption, “I might be nervous and scared beyond words but I’ll never let her see it…let’s get this done!”

After a 5hr 50min surgery the surgeon was able to remove ALL of her tumor and all of her lymph nodes and her right adrenal gland where it all started from…best news I’ve received in a long time #PrayForLeah #GodIsGood #ThanksForYourSupport

Leah is not cancer free though.

Still and Leah’s mother, Channing Smythe found out about their daughter’s illness in June of this year.
