There’s a lot going on with Allen Iverson these days. Last week AI declined an invitation to make a return to basketball via the D League, his divorce was finalized but, the judge allegedly ordered AI into counseling for alcohol abuse. This week we learn that “The Answer” has reportedly lost his Atlanta mansion to foreclosure.
Of course TMZ has all the details:
Iverson allegedly defaulted on a $1.2 million mortgage which sent the $4.5 million home into foreclosure. He briefly fought off an auction … but ultimately, he couldn’t stop it.
Sources close to the sale tell TMZ … Iverson’s bank purchased the mansion [Tuesday] for $2.5 million.
Speculation has run rampent regarding Iverson’s finances. Rumors of out of control spending habits and also hiding money during his divorce proceedings most recently. Iverson still has hopes of returning to the NBA court and there’s also been talk of him some day joining the coaching ranks.
I’m sure AI has grown since his infamous “practice rant.” He’s probably learned a great deal since his departure from the league. I bet he wishes he had an exit strategy.
