One of my favorite NBA couples is Alonzo Mourning and his wife Tracy Wilson Mourning. Aside from the fact that just from an aesthetic standpoint they’re gorgeous, their philanthropic endeavours in the south Florida area are inspiring.
Tracy is CEO and Creative Director of Honey Child Enterprises. Under that umbrella, there is the Honey Shine Mentoring Program, which she founded in 2002. “Through biweekly workshops, summer camps and various other activities, the Honey Shine Mentoring Program works to encourage a balance of mind, body and soul in girls and women through nurturing experiences and empowerment.”
There’s also two lifestyle brands, Honey Child and TWM by Tracy Wilson Mourning Bath & Body Ritual Collection. Lover is my favorite of the collection, I have the body oil and the lotion.
Check out a day in the life of this busy former NBA wife-current NBA Executive (Zo works in player development with the Miami Heat now) wife:
6:30 a.m.
My meditation and quiet time, which I try to incorporate into my morning before my day begins. Sometimes my mediation time becomes our mediation time because my kids tend to sense when I am up and around. I then make sure to drink a warm glass of water with lemon and take my supplements.
8:30 a.m.
A one-hour Zumba class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Power Plate or kettle ball workout. I also try to fit in one or two sessions a week of Bikram Yoga.
11:00 a.m.
Home to work on a list of things for Honey Child or Honey Shine. Some days there are meetings or photo shoots scheduled throughout the afternoon. I try to schedule shoots and interviews before the kids get out of school. I also take time to drink a fresh veggie juice, which gives me my afternoon boost.
1:00 p.m.
I usually enjoy a bite to eat, sometimes with my husband, a girlfriend or in front of my computer.
3:00 p.m.
Carpool begins and my time ends. It’s time to get the kids to all their after school activities.
6-8:30 p.m.
This is usually the time to ensure that the kids have had dinner, all homework is done, bath time and time to wind down before bed. My youngest sometimes takes a while to fall asleep, so this time frame varies.
9:00 p.m.
Some nights there are events or dinners that I am scheduled to attend. On other nights, hopefully my two youngest are asleep and I am able to get more work done, read, spend time with my husband or take time for myself with a bath or just being still.
The development of young girls is an area that I’m passionate about. The Honey Shine organization is one I make a yearly donation too. I hope more Jock wife’s follow the blueprint that Tracy and Alonzo have laid out and make a difference in their communities.
