With Kanye West recently signing a $10 million deal with Adidas, and the Jordan brand signing Drake, rappers signing deals with athletic brands is a big topic. On a recent appearance on ESPN’s “Sports Nation,” 2 Chainz said he believes rappers can push product better than the actual athletes to fuel sales. His reasoning? Rappers are the new rock stars, they don’t have a “season”, they rap all year and the effect they have on the pop culture landscape.
2 Chainz makes a few valid points however, if the goal is actually about performance versus style, the rappers will lose ever time. Fashion wise though, take a look at some of your favorite Jocks, they absolutely adopt some of the style game from rappers.
