In America you are deemed innocent until proven guilty. However, the court of public opinion often operates from a slightly different tilt. Twin brothers who also happen to be NFL players are showing support for accused murderer, Aaron Hernandez. The Pouncey twins played with Hernandez at the University of Florida and won a BCS title together. The twins have inadvertently set internet tongues wagging. Steelers’ center Maurkice Pouncey and Dolphins’ center Mike Pouncey were spotted wearing “Free Hernandez” hats at Cameo nightclub in Miami for their birthday party celebration.
Both their names came up in connection with the unsolved September 2007 shooting that is also being investigated for a possible link to Aaron Hernandez.
While they are certainly allowed to show support for someone they consider a friend. I hope they were prepared for the PR nightmare they’ve created for themselves and their respective teams.
