This sounds like a movie script. $40,000 worth of tickets to Super Bowl 50 were swiped from a downtown San Francisco hotel.
KTVU reported that four men reportedly entered a conference room inside the Hotel Nikko and took the tickets for Sunday’s game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.
Police haven’t identified any suspects, and it’s not known who those stolen tickets belong to. According to USA Today, the average StubHub ticket price for the game was $4,879, its highest price since at least 2007. The lowest price on StubHub was $2,669 for an upper endzone corner seat. Making Super Bowl 50 the most expensive tickets in U.S. sports’ history.
The face value of those tickets is between $850 to $1,800. prime “club seats” that include extra amenities cost as much as $3,000. The re-sell market for those tickets is huge. But who would be foolish enough to risk trying to sit in those seats?
