The Next NFL Stars To Retire

With the regular season of the NFL coming to a close, it’s almost time to say goodbye to our favorite players. Some future Hall of Famers are potentially looking to close out their careers. Whether the reason be injury or age, we are looking at some stars that may call it quits at the end of the season.

Peyton Manning
After being the greatest regular season quarterback in the history of the NFL, it appears it may be time to hang ‘em up after 18 seasons. The five-time MVP has been hit with an onslaught of injury. Mixed with his ineffectiveness this season, it’s worth considering that the soon-to-be 40 year old could be satisfied with his career. Moving on to the next chapter of his life, which will probably include even more commercials.

Marshawn Lynch
One of the most punishing running backs the league has ever seen, may have finally taken one too many hits. After hinting at the idea of retirement last season, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that this injury plagued season could be his final one. He will surely have one of the most unforgettable retirement press conferences, if he even shows up.

Charles Woodson
At 39 years old, Charles Woodson may be playing the best football of his life. Tied for 3rd in the league with 5 interceptions, Woodson is an exception to every age rule in the NFL. But that doesn’t mean just because he’s talented enough to play forever he will. This game comes with a lot of wear and tear and sometimes the players just have to say enough is enough. Though we all know he can and we all hope he does, Woodson may not have the desire to play another season and to put his body through the agony that comes with it.

Tony Romo
Maybe the oddest prediction on this list, but Romo is 35 with a grocery list of injuries. From a bad back to a bum shoulder, how much more pain can this guy take? Though he’s almost never even hinted towards retirement, one must wonder how much he’s got left in the tank. If he does decide to hang them up, does that make room for a Johnny Football return to Texas?
