On ESPN’s “First Take,” Skip Bayless is very good at his job. Stirring up controversy and causing people to react strongly to his “sports opinions.” Thursday on the newly launched afternoon version of the show, Seattle Seahawks corer Richard Sherman appeared. Sherman is a talker and has already begun trash talk for next season by trolling Darelle Revis on Twitter, proclaiming numbers never lie. Sherman clearly had an agenda for his appearance on the show, embarrass Skip.
“Whenever you speak to me or whenever you address me, address me as All-Pro Stanford graduate, because those are some accomplishments you will never accomplish,” Sherman said. “You have never accomplished anything.
“I am intelligent enough and capable enough to understand that you are ignorant, pompous, egotistical, credetent, and that’s really what it comes down to. And I’m going to crush you on here in front of everybody because I’m tired of hearing about it.”
But this is what Skip does for a living. Of course he was ready with a comeback.
“Richard, you’re not letting the numbers speak for themselves,” Bayless said. “You’re speaking for Richard Sherman — again and again and again. You’re taking away the focus of how good you were the last two years on the field because you’re only becoming known for your trash talking.
Sherman was NOT trying to hear it and had this to say in response:
“I’ll put it like this — in my 24 years of life, I’m better at life than you,”
Let me be honest. I like trash talk. Especially if you can back it up. I think that it is a part of sports. I find it entertaining and something competitors do. Talk you s*it Richard! It also has assured that Sherman will step into the ranks with LeBron, Chris Bosh and others as Bayless’ new favorite topic. Win-win?
