The NFL and it’s union are in discussions to eliminate the Pro-browl. The event is pretty lackluster and though it still gets great ratings, the game itself is a joke. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has previously voiced his displeasure with the lack of competitiveness.
The league will likely keep the concept of Pro Bowl bonuses without the actual game. They’ve added the NFL Honors show during Super Bowl weekend. I’m sure it makes sense to work Pro Bowl honors into that. Therefore there’s still a live televised event that allows players to be honored and fans to see the guys in one place. Plus the $$ that’s always a key negotiating piece.
Win-Win if you ask me.
