NFL back in LA? Rams owner to build stadium in Inglewood near The Forum

It’s been 21 years since LA has had an NFL team. The city has become like a horse chasing after a carrot on a stick when it comes to a team coming back. Various fake outs, being used as leverage to get new stadiums built in respective cities, it feels like a dream that will never come to pass.

But then this happened, The LA Times announced that St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke has struck a deal with an investment firm to build a stadium in an L.A.

That means the Rams are coming home soon, right? Last month NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said no NFL team would be in LA by the 2015 season, but surely something is seriously brewing this time, right?

According to The Times’ report, Kroenke, the 67-year-old billionaire whose company holds controlling of interest of the Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids of MLS, will team with Stockbridge Capital Group to add an 80,000-seat NFL stadium and 6,000-seat performance venue to a planned retail / commercial / hotel development in Inglewood.

The site is next door to the Lakers former home, the Forum. Could the City of Champions be making a comeback?
