So, what did the Chiefs give up for Smith? A second-round pick this year (33rd overall), as well as another conditional mid-round pick in 2014. Smith’s base salary is guarnteed for $8.5 million next season.
The Chiefs have a new head coach in Andy Reid. Smith is replacing Matt Cassel, who’s expected to be released.
Smith suffered a concussion this season and was replaced by back up QB Colin Kaepernick who led the Niners to the Super Bowl and had a record setting playoff performance.
