Is this spygate the sequel? The New England Patriots are in hot water for alleged shady tactics once again. The NFL has found that 11 of the 12 Patriots footballs used in Sunday’s AFC title game were under-inflated by 2 lbs each.
The investigation was triggered by Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson’s second quarter interception, according to reports, Jackson felt the ball was underinflated and allegedly notified the equipment manager.
So how would a team benefit from an underinflated ball? The assumption is that the Patriots tampered with the balls so that Tom Brady could better grip them in rainy conditions.
A few years ago Brady joked that he preferred underinflated balls so his smaller hands could grip them better. He also said he liked when teammate Rob Gronkowski would spike the ball so it would deflate a bit.
Lots of wiggle room as to who could be responsible for this, and how it slipped past officials. Does it change your opinion of the Patriots win?
