Do some Seahawks players think QB Russell Wilson isn’t black enough?

The questioning of an individual’s “blackness,” is a topic that comes up in the black community often. “Sellout,” or to quote former ESPN analyst Rob Parker who lost his job when discussing Redskins QB RG3, “cornball brother,” is one of the hardest labels to overcome if it’s thrown on a person within their community. Per Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, one of the Seattle Seahawks locker room issues involved players questioning QB Russell Wilson’s “blackness.”

There is also an element of race that needs to be discussed. My feeling on this—and it’s backed up by several interviews with Seahawks players—is that some of the black players think Wilson isn’t black enough.

Harvin and Wilson allegedly had an altercation during preseason and Seahawks brass felt the locker room was becoming divided, so somebody had to go.

In addition to that, and if we’re speaking honestly, probably what helps fuel those feelings, some players feel that Wilson is too close to the front office. Lastly, Freeman states players feel Wilson doesn’t take the blame for the mistakes he makes on field.

The last time a topic like this was broached was with the Dolphins bullying scandal. I ain’t got the answers Sway, but I can understand how the topic can deeply divide a locker room, if true.
