Could the Cleveland Browns see wide receiver Josh Gordon back on the field by week 2 for their home opener? That’s what the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting. The NFL is looking at making changes to its drug policy. While still being negotiated between the NFL and the NFL Players Association, one area in particular – changes to the threshold for a positive marijuana test.
Under the new policy, the threshold for a positive marijuana test would be 50 nanograms per milliliter. Gordon’s sample measured 16 ng/ml, well below the proposed new limit.
Gordon was in Stage Three of the league’s drug program, which required any failed test results in a one-year suspension. But if the threshold is raised, his test would become negative.
The DUI he received this summer might still have him suspended for two additional games. But considering what he did last season missing a few games, I’d say the Browns and their fans would take that.
