Colin Kaepernick’s agents have reportedly requested permission to seek a trade away from the San Francisco 49ers per Rand Getlin of NFL Network.
For some this is a shocking development. Especially when you consider several factors that have unfolded the last few days. New head coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke both said all the right things during several interviews while attending the NFL scouting combine. Kaepernick is a big part of the team’s plans for the 2016 season.
The timing is interesting timing not just because the team came out in support of Cap, but also because Kaepernick is currently recovering from multiple surgeries, including one to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. Any team interested in trading for him would be picking up a quarterback who isn’t healthy, and coming off his worst career season as a pro.
This offseason, the market is flooded with available talent at the QB spot.
But you know why Colin may not care about any of that? He reportedly wants to be closer to his boo, New York Ho7 97 Dj Nessa Diab. The two recently stepped out as a couple for the first time for a Valentine’s day charity event.
Nessa is the ex-girlfriend of of Colin’s former teammate, Aldon Smith. Last summer Aldon and Cap reportedly had a fight during practice over his relationship with Smith’s ex.
Therefore his value is pretty much at an all-time low, meaning the 49ers might not be willing to make any trade. Baalke is notoriously a stickler when it comes to value, meaning Kaepernick might need to make quite a fuss to cause the 49ers to make a move.
