Chris Borland made the decision to retire from professional football after his rookie season. The linebacker felt the cost to his health wasn’t worth the risk.
Borland announced on Sunday while appearing on Face the Nation, that he’ll return $463,077 in signing bonus money he received in 2014, as part of the four-year contract he signed with the San Francisco 49’ers. That’s approximately 3/4 of his $617,436 signing bonus.
